Do I Need a Business License to Practice?
Business registration, tax certificates, and local licensing requirements depend on where and how you practice. Your professional license is separate from any city or county business registration. Check the requirements of each jurisdiction where your practice operates, including the location from which you provide telehealth. Help Therapy may request proof of any business registration applicable to your arrangement during onboarding.
If you operate a business within the City of San Diego, the city says a Business Tax Certificate is required. Apply and check current fees and deadlines on the City Treasurer’s official page: https://www.sandiego.gov/treasurer/taxesfees/btax/btaxhow
If you practice elsewhere, consult the relevant city or county website for current instructions. Requirements and fees change, so do not rely on an old fee or processing estimate. A business tax certificate does not replace a professional license or other permit.
