What Is a National Provider Identifier (NPI), and How Do I Get One?
An NPI is a 10-digit identifier used to identify health care providers in standard health care transactions. An individual clinician has a Type 1 NPI. An organization or group practice has a Type 2 NPI. Your individual NPI remains yours even if you work with multiple organizations; Help Therapy’s group NPI is a separate organizational identifier.
Apply for or update your individual NPI through the official National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES): https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/
Make sure your name, license, practice locations, taxonomy, and other enrollment information are accurate. Tell Help Therapy’s credentialing team when your NPI information changes so payer enrollment records can be reviewed. Do not apply for a second individual NPI simply because you join Help Therapy.
